We are looking for a proactive and reliable Van Driver / Yard Operative to join our team at Lawsons Wandsworth. This role is essential to maintain our high standards of service and customer satisfaction. Working Hours -  

The role includes a 44.5-hour work week, from Monday to Friday 07:30 - 17.00, and every second Saturday from 08:00 - 12:00.

Responsibilities of a Van Driver

• Ensure efficient and punctual delivery of goods to customers along designated routes.
• Conduct regular vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety standards.
• Support loading and unloading processes, ensuring delivery accuracy.
• Work collaboratively within the logistics team to streamline operations.
• Maintain accurate delivery records and handle all necessary documentation.
• Provide high-quality customer service and communicate effectively with clients.
• Adhere to driving regulations and uphold Lawsons' standards of courteous driving.

Yard Operative Responsibilities

• Oversee accurate picking, packing, and merchandising of products in the yard.
• Ensure the efficient unloading and storage of deliveries.
• Maintain high standards of tidiness, organisation, and safety throughout the yard.
• Conduct safety checks on mechanical equipment and machinery.
• Provide excellent service to customers and suppliers in the yard.
• Assist in stock management and report any discrepancies promptly.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• A valid category B driving licence is essential.

• Previous van driving experience working in a builder's merchants (essential)

• Strong ability to manage time efficiently and work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused attitude are essential.
• Forklift licence and experience operating in a yard environment are highly desirable.
• Basic understanding of vehicle and equipment maintenance and safety regulations.
