Location: Tyttenhanger Farm, Coursers Rd, St Albans, AL4 0PG.
Working Hours – Steel Manufacturing and Warehouse Jobs
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity. Shifts typically cover Monday to Friday, plus 4 hours every other Saturday morning to meet business demands. Precise hours and patterns will be discussed at interview.
Salary range - £34,000 - £38,000, dependant on experience.
Key Responsibilities – General Operative and Saw Operator Duties
- Operating saws and manual handling equipment to accurately cut steel products to specification and order.
- Ensuring safe and organised storage and movement of steel materials both in the warehouse and yard.
- Supporting order picking, preparation, and packing of steel items for collection and delivery.
- Inspecting steel materials for quality and reporting any defects or issues to supervisors promptly.
- Maintaining a clean, hazard-free workspace by following housekeeping standards and reporting any safety concerns.
- Assisting with goods-in and goods-out operations, including unloading/loading vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
- Working collaboratively as part of a wider team to ensure operational goals and customer deadlines are met.
- Adhering at all times to Lawsons’ Health and Safety procedures and company guidelines.
Skills, Experience & Requirements – Steel Operative & Saw Operator Essentials
- Previous experience in a steel yard, warehouse, or production environment is beneficial, but not required as full training will be offered.
- Practical, reliable, and proactive attitude with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable with manual handling and physically active work, including regular lifting of steel materials (within health & safety guidelines).
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions precisely.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to provide excellent customer service where required.
- Keen to undertake ongoing training, including safe equipment operation and further skills development.
- Holding a forklift or similar license is desirable but not essential.
