Telesales and Counter Sales - New Malden
We are seeking a committed individual to join our New Malden branch in a dual Telesales and Counter Sales position. This fast-paced, customer-facing role is perfect for someone motivated by building relationships, meeting targets, and delivering outstanding service in the construction supplies sector.
Location: Unit 16, Adams Industrial Estate, St Johns Rd, New Malden, KT3 3SQ.
Working Hours, Salary & Benefits – Lawsons New Malden Sales Careers
- Full-time role: Monday to Friday 07:30 - 17:00 and alternate Saturdays 08:00 - 12:00 (44.5 hours per week).
- Salary: £34,000 - £36,000 per annum (dependent on experience).

Main Responsibilities –
- Engage professionally with customers via telephone and at the trade counter as the branch’s ambassador for product knowledge and service quality.
- Advise retail and trade customers on the most suitable fencing, timber, and building materials to meet their needs, using your strong sales skills to promote additional products and up-sell where appropriate.
- Efficiently manage sales enquiries: respond rapidly to trade counter and phone queries, process orders, and provide quotations accurately and effectively.
- Proactively seek new business opportunities by conducting outbound telesales calls and qualifying leads, consistently working towards and exceeding branch sales and margin targets.
- Support key company policies: uphold audit requirements, maintain security to prevent loss, and contribute to stock counts while ensuring merchandise is well-presented.
- Deliver feedback on customer trends and market opportunities to management, helping strengthen the branch’s performance and reputation.
- Cultivate a friendly, inclusive, and knowledgeable customer experience at all times in line with Lawsons’ values.
Skills and Qualities for Sales Success
- Experienced in sales within a builders merchants or similar environment (essential).
- Excellent communicator: approachable, confident, and professional when dealing with customers in person and over the phone.
- Proficient IT user, able to quickly master CRM and phone systems.
- Target-driven, highly motivated, and enthusiastic with a passion for growing sales and delivering positive customer outcomes.
- Strong time management and multitasking skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Skilled at building lasting customer relationships and collaborating in a supportive team environment.
