We have a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and experienced Assistant Branch Manager to join our team at AVS Worthing branch. Working Hours – Assistant Branch Manager - Worthing
Full-time, 44.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday, plus alternate Saturday mornings (08:00 – 12:00).

Key Responsibilities –
- Support the Branch Manager with the daily running of all branch operations, including sales, logistics, and yard management.
- Lead and motivate the team to consistently deliver outstanding customer service and meet branch targets.
- Promote and maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety across the branch and yard areas.
- Assist in stock management, ensuring accurate stock levels, timely replenishment, and effective merchandising.
- Handle customer queries in person, by phone and via email to ensure satisfaction and retention.
- Provide training, day-to-day guidance, and support to team members to aid their development.
- Act as a keyholder and take responsibility during the Branch Manager’s absence.
- Foster strong relationships with both trade and retail customers.
- Identify sales opportunities, upsell relevant products and services, and proactively resolve any issues.
- Ensure all team members provide knowledgeable advice on products and services.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, respect, and professionalism at all times.
- Assist with the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training of new team members.
- Support performance reviews and help maintain a positive working environment.
About You – Skills & Experience required
- Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within a builders’ merchant or related trade (essential).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work well under pressure.
- Good understanding of stock control, sales processes, and team leadership.
- Enthusiastic attitude, problem-solving ability, and a commitment to high standards.
- Ability to deputise for the Branch Manager as required.
- Forklift truck licence is desirable; willing to train the right candidate.
- IT literacy, numeracy, and attention to detail are essential. #MP
