Part Time Yard Operative Opportunity – New Malden
As a Yard Operative at our New Malden branch, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day running of the yard. Your focus will be on the safe handling, storage, and loading of building materials, supporting our high standards of customer service, and upholding our excellent reputation within the industry.
Key Yard Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload customer and company vehicles with building, timber, and fencing materials.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working yard at all times.
- Assist customers courteously, helping locate and retrieve products efficiently and accurately.
- Carry out regular stock checks and report any discrepancies to management.
- Comply with all health and safety policies, promoting a safety-focused workplace environment.
- Support team members to ensure the smooth running of daily operations.
- Take pride in delivering excellent service to both trade and retail customers.
Essential Skills, Experience, and Personal Qualities
- Demonstrable experience in a similar yard, warehouse, or outdoor operations environment (essential).
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks and operate manual handling equipment safely (essential).
- Good awareness of health and safety practices and willingness to learn.
- Friendly, helpful attitude and team-oriented approach.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to work effectively with diverse colleagues and customers.
- A proactive work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Experience with forklift operation desirable (valid licence is an advantage, though training can be provided).
Working Hours, Pay, and Employee Benefits
- This is a part time, permanent position working 20 hours per week.
- Working Hours - Wed and Friday 08.00 - 17.00 plus 1 in 2 Saturday mornings 8.00am - 12.00pm
- Competitive hourly rate of £12.52 per hour.
