HGV Class 2 Hiab Driver Positions Across Multiple Locations
As an HGV Class 2 Hiab Driver with Lawsons, you will play a vital role in the delivery of building materials, timber, and fencing products to our diverse customer base. You will represent our company on the road, ensuring each delivery is completed safely, punctually, and professionally. Main Responsibilities of HGV Class 2 Hiab Drivers
- Safely operate HGV Class 2 vehicles fitted with Hiab crane equipment for multi-drop and single deliveries.
- Efficiently load, secure, and unload building materials, timber, and fencing products at customer sites and branches.
- Perform daily vehicle checks and report defects to ensure legal compliance and vehicle safety at all times.
- Deliver excellent, friendly, and helpful service to customers and promote Lawsons’ values during every interaction.
- Follow all traffic, road safety, and site health & safety guidelines, safeguarding yourself and others.
- Assist with yard duties on-site as required, supporting team members and contributing to smooth day-to-day operations.
- Maintain accurate and timely delivery paperwork and electronic records using relevant delivery management systems.
Essential HGV Driver Skills, Experience, and Personal Qualities
- Valid HGV Category C (Class 2) licence and current CPC qualification – both essential.
- Hiab (Lorry Loader Crane) qualification with practical experience – essential.
- Experience delivering building materials, timber, or similar products to residential and commercial sites is highly desirable.
- Proven commitment to safe driving, excellent road knowledge, and confident operation of commercial vehicles.
- Strong attention to detail, including accurate completion of vehicle checks and paperwork.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills, supporting an inclusive and positive working environment.
- Proactive, reliable, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Working Hours, Salary, and Employee Benefits
- Full-time working hours (44.5 hours per week) across Monday to Friday, and alternate Saturday mornings (08.00 - 12.00)
- Competitive salary (ranging between £36,500 - £42,000, dependant on experience and branch location.
- 25 days annual leave, plus 8 bank holidays, and one celebration day per year.
