Position Overview
Join Lawsons as an HGV Class 2 Hiab driver based at our Bedford branch. In this role you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an HGV Class 2 vehicle fitted with a Hiab crane, ensuring timely deliveries, correct handling of products and excellent customer service at every delivery location.
Working Hours
This is a full-time, permanent position working 44.5 hours per week: Monday to Friday (shift patterns between 07:00 and 17:00) with alternate Saturdays 08:00 to 12:00.

Main Responsibilities
Operate an HGV Class 2 vehicle and the Hiab crane safely and in accordance with company procedures and legal requirements.
Load and unload materials using the Hiab crane and assist with manual handling where required, following safe working practices.
Deliver products to customers efficiently, ensuring correct quantities and quality on arrival.
Provide courteous, professional customer service and represent Lawsons positively at all times.
Complete all required delivery paperwork accurately and promptly.
Report vehicle defects, product damage, incidents or near-misses in line with health and safety procedures.
Remain vigilant to prevent loss or damage of stock and company property.
Identify potential sales opportunities during customer visits and communicate these to the branch team.
Qualifications and Skills
Valid HGV Class 2 licence (C) and up-to-date Driver CPC (essential).
Proven Hiab/loader crane qualification and demonstrable experience operating a Hiab (essential).
Previous delivery driving experience, ideally within builders’ merchants or landscaping supplies.
Friendly, professional manner with strong customer service skills.
Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure, manage time effectively and maintain reliability.
Willingness to learn about company products and follow company processes and standards.
