The Role
We are seeking a Van Driver for a 6 month fixed term contract at our AVS Aylesbury branch. This is a customer-facing delivery role responsible for transporting timber, fencing and builders’ merchant products to customers safely, on time and with an excellent level of service. The role requires careful handling of materials, accurate completion of paperwork and adherence to company Health & Safety standards.
Working Hours
This is a full-time, fixed term position. Typical hours are Monday to Friday 07.30 - 17.00 and 1 in 2 Saturday mornings working 08.00 - 12.00.

Key Accountabilities
Deliver goods to customers on scheduled routes, ensuring safe and timely completion of deliveries.
Load and unload the delivery van safely, securing loads to prevent damage in transit.
Maintain the van in a clean and roadworthy condition and report any vehicle defects promptly.
Accurately complete delivery paperwork, including delivery notes and vehicle checklists.
Provide excellent customer service at all times, representing Lawsons professionally and courteously.
Follow all Health & Safety procedures, using appropriate PPE and safe manual handling techniques.
Report any damaged or compromised products and manage customer queries in a professional manner.
Work with branch colleagues to ensure efficient loading, route planning and customer communication.
Assist with yard duties when required, including stock checks and basic goods handling.
Carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by your line manager.
We would love to meet someone with…
A full UK driving licence (essential).
Previous experience as a delivery driver, ideally within builders’ merchants, timber or similar industries (essential).
Good knowledge of safe manual handling and basic securing of loads.
Strong customer service skills and a polite, professional manner.
Good time management and ability to work to schedules and deadlines.
Basic numeracy and ability to complete delivery paperwork accurately.
Willingness to work as part of a team and assist with yard duties when required.
Be vigilant and report any Health & Safety issues to the Line Manager immediately.
