We are recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 2 Hiab driver to join our Camden branch to deliver exceptional service to trade and retail customers.
Role overview
As an HGV Class 2 Hiab driver based at our Camden branch, you will safely operate a Class 2 vehicle fitted with a Hiab crane to deliver and offload building materials to sites and customers across London and the surrounding area. The role requires a professional, customer‑focused approach, good knowledge of site delivery procedures, and the ability to work flexibly in a fast‑moving environment.
Working hours
This is a full‑time, permanent role. Typical hours range between Monday to Friday 06.30 – 17:00 with 1 in 2 Saturdays working 08.00 - 12.00 = 44.5 hours per week. Flexibility required to meet customer needs. Hours may vary depending on operational requirements.

Main responsibilities
Safely operate Class 2 HGVs fitted with a Hiab crane, carrying out pre‑start checks and routine vehicle inspections.
Deliver, position and offload building materials to customer sites using the Hiab crane, ensuring safe and correct placement of goods.
Ensure all loads are secured and compliant with relevant road and company regulations.
Complete delivery paperwork accurately, including electronic proof of delivery and any site-specific documentation.
Provide excellent customer service at all times, representing Lawsons professionally on site.
Liaise with yard and branch colleagues to coordinate collections, routes and schedules.
Report any vehicle defects, delivery issues or customer concerns to management promptly.
Adhere to all health & safety policies and safe working practices, including site-specific rules and risk assessments.
Maintain the cleanliness and basic upkeep of the vehicle and Hiab equipment.
Skills & experience
Valid UK Category C (Class 2) driving licence with current digital driver qualification card (DQC) and CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence).
Proven experience operating a Hiab/crane on deliveries in an urban environment (essential).
Good knowledge of safe loading, sling use and offloading techniques.
Excellent customer service skills with a professional and courteous manner on site.
Reliable, punctual and able to work independently with good timekeeping and organisational skills.
Awareness of road traffic regulations, LOLER and general vehicle maintenance checks.
Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing schedules and customer requirements.
Previous experience within builders’ merchants, timber or landscaping logistics is desirable.

Deliver materials safely and on time to meet branch targets and customer expectations.
Maintain compliance with company procedures, statutory requirements and vehicle checks.
Support loss prevention and stock accuracy through correct handling and documentation.
Contribute positively to the branch team, communicating effectively with colleagues and management.
