Coordinate with sales, branch and warehouse teams to prioritise urgent orders, manage order changes and resolve delivery exceptions promptly.
Supervise, coach and develop drivers and warehouse staff, including allocating tasks, managing rotas and ensuring appropriate training, competence and licence checks are in place.
Ensure safe operation and maintenance of branch vehicles and mechanical handling equipment; ensure operators are authorised and inspections and daily vehicle checks are completed.
Complete and review relevant paperwork and electronic records accurately, including delivery notes, mileage records, vehicle defect reports and stock movement records.
Conduct regular stock checks and cycle counts, investigate and report discrepancies, and assist with physical inventories as required.
Ensure loads are secured correctly and comply with load restraint and road safety regulations; brief drivers on route planning and safe driving practices.
Maintain yard and warehouse presentation and safe working areas, ensuring goods are stored safely to prevent damage and minimise risk to colleagues and customers.
Implement and enforce health & safety procedures, report hazards or incidents immediately and take corrective action to reduce risk.
Identify opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs or improve customer service and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager to support branch performance and customer satisfaction.
