Position Overview
We are recruiting for an experienced HGV Class 2 Hiab Driver to be based at The Landscape Centre. This is a permanent, full-time position. The role is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and offloading of fencing, landscaping, timber and building materials to trade and retail customers. The successful candidate will operate a Class 2 vehicle with a Hiab crane, maintain high standards of vehicle and load safety, and represent Lawsons professionally at customer sites.
Working Hours
This is a full-time, permanent position. Typical hours are Monday to Friday 07.30 - 1700, plus 1 in 2 Saturday's 08.00 - 12.00. Flexibility for early starts is essential.

Main Responsibilities
Operate an HGV Class 2 vehicle with Hiab crane to deliver and offload fencing, landscaping, timber and building materials safely and efficiently.
Load, check and secure materials in line with company procedures, legal requirements and safe systems of work.
Operate the Hiab crane safely at customer sites, using appropriate slings, chains and lifting equipment.
Plan delivery routes and complete deliveries within agreed timescales.
Carry out daily vehicle checks, report defects promptly and maintain high standards of vehicle cleanliness and presentation.
Complete delivery paperwork accurately, including delivery notes, proof of delivery and customer instructions.
Provide professional, helpful and courteous customer service at all times.
Follow all relevant health and safety, transport, lifting and company policies and procedures.
Communicate effectively with branch colleagues, customers and transport or depot management.
Support yard and branch operations when required, including assisting with loading, stock movements and maintaining a safe and tidy working environment.
Qualifications and Skills
Valid UK HGV Class 2, Category C driving licence is essential.
Current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) is essential.
Proven experience operating a Hiab or vehicle-mounted crane is essential.
Experience delivering landscaping, fencing, timber or building materials is essential.
Good understanding of load security, manual handling and safe lifting techniques.
Good knowledge of vehicle safety checks and the ability to report defects accurately.
Reliable, punctual and able to meet delivery schedules consistently.
Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy branch and delivery environment.
Positive attitude towards health and safety, with a commitment to reporting hazards and following safe working practices.
